bio & history
London Garcia (a.k.a. "Gina") started in the entertainment industry as a full-figured model, a far cry from the world of radio, however she heard about the modeling contest ON the radio. Sounded like a small deal so she figured she'd give it a shot. Well, she showed up...along with 2,000+ other women. After all the cuts, she was surprised to discover that she made it to the top 15. Considering modeling doesn't require alot of chit chat, it quickly became the kiss of death for London. So, she started to pursue other areas of entertainment, starting with stand-up comedy. While busy writing and performing stand-up comedy, London was picked up for a sketch comedy group called "P.O. Box L.A. Comedy Co.", which had a style similar to "Saturday Night Live" and "In Living Color". While unsuccessful in getting picked up by the networks, "P.O. Box Comedy Co." had a good run on stage. She continued performing stand-up in many venues such as The Comedy Store and The Laugh Factory as well as local venues around Southern California. She took advice from the best comics in the business and did what they said: "Perform anywhere and everywhere and get really, really good."
Through P.O. Box L.A. Comedy Co., London met the first of many friends in the business, Emilio Rivera, and performed as a stand-up comic and singer in a traveling variety show he later produced, "Latino Nights". Also featured in "Latino Nights" was Mando Cosio, Gilbert Esquivel, Rudy Moreno, and a number of other comics, all who were just breaking out at the time and all have become quite successful in various areas of the entertainment industry. Through the years, London was featured in film and TV, recorded vocals for various recording artists, and continued to make alot of friends along the way. And she did what she believed in and what her parents taught her: be yourself, be honest always, be a great friend, be the one to take the initiative, do it right the first time, and FOLLOW THROUGH. When anybody asks London what the secret is to making it in Hollywood, well...just read the last sentence again. There's your secret.
Around 1998, London stepped back from the industry and pursued corporate ventures, forming a few companies and successfully growing them. Being the CEO is a nice title, but for London, that's all it was. In 2004, London realized she was way off track from her true ambitions...the "original dream". She then got involved in a few projects in film and in music, then a light bulb went off. What was the thing that first got her into the business? Ah! Radio. Shortly thereafter, London started "The London Garcia Show" at KTST in Orange County, CA. The show grew quickly from beginning. She then moved to KCLA in Hollywood, CA, later "L.A. Talk Radio" and currently airs on BlogTalkRadio until the London Garcia Studios are launched in the future.
"The London Garcia Show" was born out of a nutty 5-year old girl who spent her tender years interviewing everybody with a pink Goody hairbrush, ordering the neighbor kids around to be her crew, and holding captive anybody with a pulse until 'the show was over'. And the name "London Garcia" was inspired by London's 2 grandmothers. One was from the U.K. and one was from Mexico. Both strong. Both crazy.
